How a traditional Batticaloa restaurant used Daal Eats to reach a new generation of customers — and doubled their revenue.
Batti Spice has been serving authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Batticaloa for over a decade. Owner Priya Wickramasinghe built the restaurant on regulars — the same families coming in on Sundays, the office crowd at lunch. But when she joined Daal Eats, something unexpected happened: a completely new customer base discovered her food.
"Within the first week I was getting orders from parts of Batticaloa I would never have reached," Priya says. "By the end of the month my total orders had doubled compared to dine-in alone." Her top-selling item on Daal Eats — the slow-cooked mutton curry — now accounts for a third of her daily kitchen output.
The onboarding process was straightforward. Priya sent in her menu, the Daal team photographed the dishes, and the restaurant was live within three days. The restaurant dashboard lets her update items, adjust prices, and pause availability during peak dine-in hours. "I was worried about managing both at once but the app makes it simple," she explains.
Priya's advice to other restaurant owners hesitating to join a delivery platform: "Your regulars will still come in. But there are thousands of people who would love your food if they just knew you existed. Daal puts you in front of them."
