From uncertainty to financial freedom — one Batticaloa driver's story of building a new life with Daal.
Sanjeewa Jayasinghe, 34, from Batticaloa, was working irregular construction shifts when a friend told him about Daal. That was eight months ago. Today, Sanjeewa drives full-time and earns more than he ever did on a construction site — consistently clearing LKR 70,000 in a good month.
"The first week I was nervous. I didn't know if I would get enough trips," Sanjeewa tells us. "But by the second week I already had regulars — office workers, school runs, hospital visits. People started recognising my tuk." He works from 6am to 2pm daily and uses afternoons for family time. The flexibility was the biggest change.
Sanjeewa credits the weekly payout system for giving him the stability he needed. "In construction, sometimes you wait a month for payment. With Daal it comes every Friday without fail. I've paid off my tuk loan and we're saving for our daughter's school fees." He has also earned three performance bonuses in the past two months.
His advice to drivers who are considering joining: "Just try it for one week. Be polite, be on time, and keep your ratings high. The rest takes care of itself." Sanjeewa is one of over 1,000 active drivers on the Daal platform. Stories like his are exactly why we do what we do.
